Now that you’re here, there are many ways you can get involved. First off, register as a member so that you can get started right away.
Use the Charity Search (find > charity search) and look for a charity in your area. There are always charities looking for knitted and crocheted items for those in need.
In the Charity Search, you can browse to a specific charity, select charities working with causes that are important to you, or search for charities near you. When you find a charity you might like to work with, read their info and see if they have any specific requirements. Some charities require certain project sizes, or have other requirements (such as yarn that is machine washable). If a charity near you isn't listed - invite them to join!
Even if you don’t have a specific charity in mind, you can get started right away with our Free Pattern Search (make > free pattern search)
You can look for patterns by specifying a certain type of project (such as baby blanket), or the weight of yarn you have to work with (for example, Bernat Softee Baby is an example of ‘light’ yarn). You can also specify if you want knit or crochet patterns, and your skill level. Remember, the fewer limitations you specify, the more patterns you'll see in the results. If you find a pattern you like, click the download pdf link and you’ll have a printable copy open on your computer.
